Poultry Processing Plant: Wash-Down Platforms and Stairs That Pass Audit
| Location | Georgia, USA |
| Completed | 2024-12 |
| Quantity | 560 m² + 180 stair treads |
| Products | Molded grating 38 mm, ISO polyester · Mini-mesh grating · Molded stair treads |
The challenge
Kill-floor and evisceration platforms were epoxy-coated steel. Daily 70 °C caustic foam had breached the coating; rust scale was appearing directly above product zones and had been cited in the plant's food-safety audits. Crews needed a surface that drains, tolerates foam and hose water, and stays slip-resistant when greasy.
The solution
560 m² of 38 mm ISO polyester molded grating with gritted surface, mini-mesh panels above open product lines to catch trims and gloves, and 180 pre-formed stair treads with high-visibility gritted nosings. All hardware 316 stainless; no coating anywhere in the assembly.
Outcomes
- Next quarterly food-safety audit: the walkway finding was closed out
- Cleaning time on the platforms reduced — open mesh drains during the wash itself
- Treads remain slip-resistant under fat and foam contact
- Plant added the same spec to its capex list for the secondary process area
