Nickel Processing Plant: Acid-Area Decks and Access in Vinyl Ester FRP
| Location | Sulawesi, Indonesia |
| Completed | 2024-03 |
| Quantity | 1 050 m² |
| Products | Molded grating 38–50 mm, vinyl ester · Pultruded grating · FRP handrail + ladder |
The challenge
High-pressure acid leach circuits expose access ways to hot sulfuric acid splash and steam. Carbon steel walkways were being consumed in about two years; even coated stainless showed edge attack. The owner needed a deck system that could be installed by local crews without specialist welding labor.
The solution
1 050 m² of vinyl ester molded grating in 38 mm and 50 mm depths, pultruded I-bar at pump-deck spans, matched handrail and cage ladders. Panels arrived cut to the plant's panel drawings with numbered layouts, and JINGLUE's install guide was translated for the site crew briefing.
Outcomes
- Installed by site crews with hand tools — no welding, no hot-work permits in acid areas
- Two-year steel replacement cycle removed from the area maintenance plan
- Numbered panel layout allowed phased replacement as areas became available
- Second-order expansion for the neutralization area followed within six months
